PERS – Personal Emergency Response System
What is a Personal Response System?
Personal Emergency Response System or PERS, is an electronic device designed to let the user summon help in an emergency. The current PERS technology has been around for over 20 years. It has proven to be an eective solution forpeople who are living alone and have concerns about their health. PERS systems are regularly recognized by doctors, nurses, social workers, as well as organizations like AARP and the American Heart Association.
MediPendant™
MediPendant™ is the world's first fully-monitored two-way voice speakerphone pendant for the PERS (personal emergency response system) industry. Medical Alarm Concepts™ has taken the proven PERS concept and enhanced it with new state-of-the-art technology. The MediPendant™ has some similarity to that of other PERS units on the market today in that all systems utilize a small pendant worn by the user. But, while all the other systems require the user to be close to the base of the unit in order to have a conversation with the attendant on the other end of the line, MediPendant™ has no such requirement. With the MediPendant™, the user can speak and listen directly through the pendant, and have a two-way conversation with an operator from virtually anywhere in and around their home. With over 600+ feet (line of sight) of range, the MediPendant™ enables the user to wander inside and outside their home with limited restrictions. No other PERS unit on the market today has this capability. It is a huge advancement for the PERS industry.

Medical Alarm Concepts™ develops and manufactures innovative products and practical solutions for the personal emergency response system (PERS) and medical alert industry. As a leader in personal communications technology, Medical Alarm Concepts™ integrates technologies and design into people-centric solutions.

Perception Versus Reality
People assume that all PERS systems are the same; that you can use one in, around, and outside the home. is is not true. Our system has new modern technology that allows the user to speak and listen to the operator through the pendant. Obviously a much safer solution, it allows the user to communicate from anywhere in the home, in the basement, on the porch or outside in the in the yard.

All Personal Emergency Response Systems Are Not The Same
PERCEPTION: All of the PERS systems on the market today enable the user to speak and listen to the operator directly through the pendant.

FACT: Up until now, NONE of the monitored PERS systems on the market today enable the user to speak and listen to the operator directly through the pendant. Really, the only way to speak to an operator is through the system's base. is typically connes the user to a one-room radius in the home.

REALITY: MediPendant™ technology has made the perception a REALITY! e 20+ year old PERS system has nally been upgraded with new technology. The user no longer has to be near a central base station in the home to communicate with the operator as they can communicate though the small, wearable pendant.

PERCEPTION: Current PERS devices are effective when used in the shower or bath.

FACT: While some PERS devices oer waterproof pendants, the problem of communicating still exists, and actually becomes even greater. With the bathroom door closed and the water running, it is nearly impossible to hear anyone at all in the event of an emergency! You are in a closed o room in another part of the house.

REALITY: The MediPendant™ is water resistant and may be worn in the bath or shower. The user can communicate with a call center operator as they normally would right through the pendant.

All Monitoring Services Are Not The Same
PERCEPTION: All monitoring centers and the experience of the operators and staff are the same.

FACT: Monitoring centers are not the same. Some are not fully staed 24 hours a day, seven days a week and are not equipped to handle a large volume of calls. Some call centers have no training in emergency response at all!

REALITY: LifeSafety Monitoring™ is the preferred monitoring center for the two-way voice MediPendant™. It is an upgrade over conventional PERS call centers because of its ability to allow Emergency Medical Technicians and friends or family to stay on the line until help arrives.

PERCEPTION: Current PERS devices are effective when used in the shower or bath.

Personal Emergency Response Systems Are Much More Effective Than Calling 911 Or Using A Cell Phone
PERCEPTION: Calling 911 is the quickest way to get help.

FACT: 911 will know nothing about the caller or their friends and family.

REALITY: A call center will know all contacts, medical history and even current medication.

PERCEPTION: Calling 911 is discreet.

FACT: There is no privacy when a user calls 911. A scene is usually created in front of the user’s home as fire trucks and ambulances show up. There is also potential for being caught in an embarrassing situation as remen and police come the users aid.

REALITY: A monitoring center can determine if you need a family member, friend or neighbor. PERCEPTION: A cell phone is just as eective as a PERS system.

FACT: Cell phones need to be turned on and charged, PERS systems don't. Cell service isn’t always available. PERS pendants can be worn in the bath or shower, cell phones can’t get wet. ere are several buttons to press on a cell phone, only one button on a PERS system.

REALITY: A PERS system is the safest, most eective device to have in an emergency.
